When did you know you wanted to do hair?

I was in love with the whole beauty part of life ever since I can remember. My mom used to ask me to do her hair and make-up starting from about age 8.

How long have you been doing color?

13 years.

How would you describe your approach to doing hair color?

I think you have to look at the whole person, not just their hair or what they see in magazines. It all starts with a lifestyle, personality, and skin tone. Getting to know your guest is key.

What inspires your creativity?

I love to be inspired by things that are totally out of my element. Sometimes it's riding on a subway in NYC listening to my ipod or sometimes it is taking a run at dusk and looking up into the sky. I think creativity comes from emotion and feeling.

What advice would you give to someone considering coloring their hair for the first time?

It all comes back to the guest. What is drastic for the, how far do they want to go. Above all, go to a stylist recommended by many people you know and trust.

How do you customize a hair color service for each and every client?

Totally...I do not want my guests looking like they came out of the same color "machine." We are all individuals, we should look like it!

What celebrity always has great hair?

I have two ends of the spectrum. Jessica Simpson: beautiful and classic. Mary-Kate Olsen: organic and natural!

What's your approach to returning hair color clients?

Keep it fresh and keep it changing. Inspiration from fashion is changing all the time and I keep in mind the change of the seasons.

Describe your personal style:

I love fresh and beautiful things with a twist. I like things to be unexpected. When people take their first look I want them to say, "Wow, she is beautiful and unique...all in one!"
